I’ve just retired my old gear (old-school Nikon DSLR with a few lenses) and with nostalgia in full play for my now past equipment’s imminent demise, I thought i’d give my Nikon, which has served me very, very well over the last few years, one last haruh before I jump ship completely to a new Canon 6D. With that in mind, I made a trip out to Movie World a week or two ago to snap up some photos of Green Lantern (suffice to say I’ve been slack and haven’t taken any photos of it yet, and it’s been open a long time) and do a walk around to see what’s happening, what’s new, and to keep my cravings for epic G-force at bay (think Superman Escape.)
Did someone say Green Lantern photos? For those of you playing at home, not only is this the only 4-abreast El-loco style coaster made by S&S to date, but it’s the only one to be fitted with additional speakers and lighting. Good Guy Movie World is good. Pow! Right in the kisser. Green Lantern entrance. Horrible movie. Great ride. Justice League is also great too (when it works.) God this is an amazing ride. And of course, back to Superman Escape for some more fun times. A Police Academy car being repurposed. I’ve witnessed this thing spurting out smoke and other things, does it still it? Again, great job all around with the themeing. Just incase you forgot where you were. They’ve done a great job with the whole area. I just wish they’d hurry up and do something about the closed off Chinatown area. Lethal Wea… I meant, Arkham close-up! Here’s some photos from some “safe” angles. They were training new ride-ops, and despite the one-way locked door at the exit, I still wasn’t allowed to stop and take a photo on my way out. Because you know, ride pedophiles and health and safety be damned. Oh yeah, have you heard about Arkham Asylum? It’s pretty awesome too. Thought i’d snag original photo #2834. Takin’ it wide like a boss. And it photographs well. It’s certainly a great filler – exactly what the park needs. It’s unique, it’s big, it’s impressive and it’s great fun. All things considered, Movie World made a brilliant choice throwing this ride in. I was humbly surprised that security didn’t wack me. I was standing outside waiting for these shots for ages.
Another overview of the ride from inside the park.
